Every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday the Diaz Express railway trio, Tom, Dick and Harry, run between Hartenbos and Great Brak River where an optional lunch can be enjoyed at Transkaroo Restaurant.
While passengers are having lunch or use their time to explore the village on foot, an additional excursion is available in the direction of George.
Bookings for this excursion can be made on the day.
This unique journey by rail offers stunning views from Great Brak River to the Maalgate (Whirlpool) river.
Trip from Great Brak River to Maalgate: depart at 13h00, back at 14h30. Minimum number of people: 12. Cost: adults R100; children R80; babies on laps for free.
Chopper, the resident cat at Transkaroo Restaurant, chose the historic railway station building as his home over 13 years ago.
Along the way you will travel through a number of historic beach villages, often with views across the bay.
At Reebok you will see the Bakenskraal Le Roux house, built in 1909 when the area below the railway line was a private beach called Strand Rust, as well as the Olivier Lane cottages built before 1910.
Ideal for year-end functions – a fun trip with lunch at the award-winning Transkaroo Restaurant.
