Situated in Great Brak River’s atmospheric old railway station, right on the lagoon front and overlooking the estuary, Transkaroo dishes up plates full of passionately created South African cuisine – each one with a special touch. A wide range of dishes are listed on blackboards and the wine list, too, is varied and extensive.
In April 2014 Johan and Jeanette Moolman bought this well-established restaurant together with their son-in-law Maurice Fouché (Head Chef) and daughter Nicolette, and today this family run business is one of only five Garden Route restaurants included in the prestigious 2016 American Express Fine Dining Awards list.
These 3 chefs ensure that happy customers keep coming back.
Head Chef Maurice Fouché (middle) has been at Transkaroo since November 2011 where he worked with previous owner and well-known chef Stefan Jambeck. Chef de Partie (André Smit, left) joined the team in November 2013, and Sous Chef (Julien van Niekerk, right) has been at Transkaroo since May 2015.
